County Council passed the second reading of the proposed tax increase that will be lower than originally proposed tonight 8-4 with amendment:

The proposed 2024 and 2025 budget includes a millage rate increase for the first time in 30 years. The increase would move the millage rate from 48.8 to 59.8.

The amendment would lower the millage rate increase from 11 to 7 for the 2024 and 2025 budgets. Both budgets ended up passing second reading 8 to 4.

County Council failed to pass their budget on the second reading last night in a 6-6 vote. State law requires a budget must be passed by June 30th. If one isn’t passed by then, some serious issues will arise within the county. 
 

None of the earmarks requested by the City of Greenville were vetoed by the governor so they are fully approved now.

How in the world is public transportation and the library system not considered a core government function? Not only that but his proposed ordinance would violate article 10 of the SC state constitution which would make it illegal.

It's nonsense and grandstanding. It would be a nightmare to ever implement. How could you ever set a budget based this?

It’s all about him getting re elected.

1) make an argument about something illegal that should be done that base will be vocal about

2) let it get denied as they knew it would

3) “they’re woke! elect me again and I’ll right what I already can’t/didn’t do while elected”

Anyone still this dense enough to believe this stuff?
