Plans for 44 story downtown tower denied

Okay, it's been two weeks ago and I'm just now hearing about this. (I don't get the Trib). Any developments? How did the second vote go? Has idiocy won the day, or did any council members suddenly receive wisdom? And who's pulling the strings here?

I don't think they've had a second vote. City Council has been on a break, but they will be meeting again on July 21st. I know of at least one Channel District project going up before the council on that date, so I'm guessing this would be when the Doran Jason Group (or whatever) will resubmit a new proposal. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they get the thumbs up.
