I seem to remember there was an issue with drunk fans and I thought I recalled hearing something about restricting beer sales or raising prices or something.

The next phase of redevelopment at Orange Center Blvd. and Tampa Avenue near the stadium was announced and best of all it’s a non-profit trust with local roots was selected.

This is a good decision by the city. Homeownership, local investment and community retailers will go a long way in recreating a long ravaged area.

I apparently haven't read this thread in a while.  I generally go to one Jags game a year, and at the Citrus Bowl once or twice a year.  There's minimal difference in experience between the lower bowls IMO.

I agree. I don't understand the hate for this stadium. Is it anything fancy? No. But it's nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. My only real complaint is that if they can't afford to build a parking garage, they should at least pave the dirt lot parking lots they have.

If they did, I'd hope they wouldn't use asphalt paving. All it does is block the absorption of rain water, creates runoff and reflects more heat into the atmosphere.

Plus, it's ugly. 

Maybe some kind of permeable crushed gravel or other permeable paver system.

I actually love the grass parking lots because of heat and the fact that it actually feels like tailgating when it's on grass.

I went during this most recent Pro Bowl, and the pouring rain made the parking lots a muddy mess. It was absolutely unbearable.

You'd think they'd know better than to schedule inclement weather on the same days as outdoor sporting events, but it seems they just keep doing it over and over, year after year.

Apparently the ‘Canes still like the Citrus Bowl. The Stones canceled their concert at Hard Rock Stadium but The U decided to keep their spring game here.

interesting developments. The city is moving forward with $46M in renovations, adding seating upgrades and more importantly, parking improvements. More funding could be in store if Orlando is selected as a host city for the World Cup games.

I’m most excited about parking improvements. The lot around CWS is straight up embarrassing and gives no doubts about Orlando’s status as a major football city. Hopefully with these upgrades we can one day lure the NFL. Probably not, but this can’t hurt.

Unless the Bucs leave Tampa or the NFL decides to start allowing teams between two mid-tier cities only 85 miles apart, the NFL is not our future. As it stands, Tampa Bay will veto any attempt to put a team here.

On the other hand, if global warming starts causing sea levels to significantly rise as predicted, and what with Miami, Tampa and Jacksonville all being coastal cities, if those areas find themselves under water in a couple of decades or so, we could have ALL THREE teams right here in good ol' O-town!!!

They only other option I see is if Jax leaves and the league decides not to replace them like-for-like (a la Cleveland or Baltimore) and Orlando becomes a valid option.

Given it’s a bottom tier bowl, that’s probably a good idea. Easier to fill.
