I don't have a lot of time to go into this, but Rosen's a slime bag. In the history of great cities they have always been lead by great men. Especially those that have profitted on the backs of its residents. Andrew Carnegie comes to mind an I think of his emphasis on paying lower wages simply so he could reinvest the money into major cultural institutions around the country for their enlightenment. At some point it has to become obvious to these people that these venues are being designed to lift the spirit of the population of Central Florida.

It's not a very sophisticated area due in large part to the lack of an established class of well educated wealthy individuals that believe in the importance of the humanities. For Rosen to have had a party as the city lost one of its greatest opportunities to advance into the 21st C. and solve a very pertinent urban problem is repulsive. I hope that the people elected will be smart enough to reject this chicanery.

I agree, this guy takes the meaning of low to new levels. Instead of taking a step back, after he received an additional half cent worth of free advertising, and reward the community he is making a ton of money off of, he back stabs the community at the last minute! What a greedy SOB. Did you notice how he wants it to be used to fight crime in the TOURIST CORRIDOR, not Orange County or Downtown Orlando. What a bitter old rich man! I say BOYCOTT his Hotels/Resorts.

If the chose is between benefiting Rosen's Hotels/Resorts and the Magic....I pick the Magic! At least it will have an economic impact that will benefit Orlando and help cleanup Parramore.

well, yeah, I would never propose that UF play a home game in ORL... only the away game. They used to do it with Miss. St. until Jackie Sherrill gave us the finger in 1992. my bad on the 2009 date (didn't know about that... 1 game every 5 years? why not 1 home & away every 5 years?).

Anyway, didn't UF play UM in Tampa back in 1985 or something? similar deal?

I believe the current agreement for UF/Miami was because the NCAA originally only granted the 12th game in years where the opening weekend started in August, giving them 15 weeks of a season. That would have been 2008 and 2013; even after the 12th game that deal stuck.

Yes they played in Tampa in 1984

Mears is already boycotting his properties. They will not send any convention business there. Everyone needs to do the same.

I think all of you all think the way i do.First off Mr Rosen doesent give a damn about us[people who would use and enjoy al lthree of these venues. And second as i have said before how much money has Rosen spent out of his pockets for construction of the convention center. How much money has he made off of all the people going to the conventions millions? It just makes me sick how a business man like him can throw his wait around and everyone listens to him.I think he is very selfish and want everything his way.He dont care about the people that lives here thats for sure!

He makes me sick. When I opened up my newspaper today at school the rage consumed me. So I emailed my commissioner, and hopefully helped just a little bit. Greed is a disgusting thing, and unfortunately money talks.

That's a good idea. You can count me and my family in. He deserves it, he's quickly replacing Guetzloe for biggest local slimeball.

Slimeball is an understatement for this shady businessman. He has brought a lot of low wage paying jobs to Orange County and made a crap load of money doing it. Hey Rosen, how about some pride for the city that you have helped built? How about giving something back? If the commisioners dont pass this it will be a huge step back and i can see a lot of the forward thinking people leaving this city. I am sorry if it sound slike i am rambling but i am very disgusted abotu this news.

What Harris has is money, and Theresa Jacobs wants to be OC mayor so bad she can taste it - watch what Theresa does on the 26th. Harris knows the power of the tourism industry is less than it once was (other segments of the economy are finally catching up and influencing the local pols), and he has enjoyed being the stud duck of the tourism corridor for the last 20 years or so. Harris will not go quietly.

Rosen reminds me of Chuck Dolan who owns Cablevision in NY. He singlehandedly killed the proposed Jets Stadium on the upper west side of Manhattan which was also going to be used for the olympics if NYC got them because it would take business away from Madison Square Garden which he owns. He had a bunch of politicians in his pocket who killed the stadium and screwed NYC for their own gains.

Build them downtown, build them green, leading the charge in money saving energy concervation and make the final votes. It's crunch time, don't let some money hungry hotelier get in the way of our community venues.

Orlando Citrus Sports will be announcing today 7/19/07 at 2:00 that they have signed a contract with Notre Dame to play at the Citrus Bowl.

Rumors are that they will be playing FSU.

Thats what I posted the other day, I had heard it through a good source. However, not sure if maybe he was confused because both were signing contracts.

Either way it's a nice deal.

They are repeating this same rumor on the FSU message boards as well...As an FSU fan, this would be awesome!! On the other hand, maybe this is just an attempt on the part of the citrus bowl to float a rumor about what is possible post renovation to make sure that they do not get left out of the funding vote..
