SC's Fourth Area Code

South Carolina's running out of phone numbers again. It has been atleast six years when 843 was enacted to serve the Coastal (Charleston, Beaufort) and Pee Dee (Florence, Myrtle Beach) calling areas. The latest buzz is the Pee Dee region will receive their own area code by late 2007/early 2008.

Interestingly enough, a minute ago I just flipped to an article in the latest edition of Men's Health magazine in which the opening line read: "As best I can remember, the last new thing I knew was area codes. Oh, maybe not South Carolina and North Dakota, but I knew all the area codes that mattered."
