I would really like to see Oklahoma grow into a big city (Highrise and Population wise) it has the potential to.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

that would be great to see okc grow even bigger there is an abundance of land here that we wont be using up any time soon, more room to grow. yes to see more highrises would be awesome, but i think the only highrises we'll see if they build any would be residenital for the downtown area. or if devon builds a new corporate office. i belive they are currently occupiying a couple of buildings downtown.

Those were some interesting hotels, both the Colcord and the Skirven. It will be nice when they are both finished. I really thought that was an interesting looking library. Is that development near it to a parking deck? Do you have any more shots of the library or for that matter the Chihuly sculpture? I've seen some Chihuly artwork but nothing quite like that. I was also curious if they had a hard time keeping the ice rink frozen. We had some problems this season with one of ours in northwest Arkansas with the rather warm temps.

Did my post get deleted? If so, I probably know why, and I didn't mean my post as spam...

I believe it's the tallest Chihuly sculpture in the world. I love the Chihuly gallery at the museum- I think it's worth visiting just to see that part of the museum. I'm really glad they were able to purchase it.

The Galleria Parking Garage project is right behind the library.

And my comments before my post was apparently deleted or my computer messed up and didn't post it were that you have really great camera angles. I like the picture of the Underground entrance and the one that looks up toward the courthouse.

No, it was deleted because you were posting about other Urban Forums. Rule 5 in the rules states that you will not post about other Urban Forum sites unless approval from the Admin.

Thanks.

Yeah the OKC Museum of Art has the largest Chihuly collection in the world. Mith242, I don't have any more pictures of the library or the Chihuly tower, but here's some from the net. I didn't hear anything about problems with keeping the ice rink frozen.

The first part of the tunnel system, I believe, was constructed in the 20s for the patrons of the Skirvin Hotel. It was expanded in the 70s, named the Conncourse after a mayor who coordinated the project.

Now it is being refurbished by Rand Elliot and Associates into "The Underground." It is being updated to be more modern, clean, and safe. The parts that are already done are very nice. The various hallways will turn into galleries, some are photography galleries with vintage downtown pictures, and there will be a hall of mirrors and other interesting hallways. The galleries will not only improve the look of the system, but also add landmarks wich will improve efficiency of people who learn to navigate the tunnels.

At one time the concourse apparently had quite a retail presence, now there are a few remaining businesses. (Workday restaurants, a hair salon...) There is also some office space on the Underground level. I believe there are about 30 access points. I've walked all the way from the south end of the CBD to the bombing memorial area north of the CBD without seeing daylight, so it's a fairly impressive system.
