Should Detroit make a bid for the 2016 olympics?

Maybe, but Athens gets a free pass in this situation. It's similar to the reason why Detroit doesn't have to worry too much about losing the NAIAS in the near future - regardless of the conditions of Cobo.

I think that would be a good idea. First and foremost, 2016 is a long ways away. I'm certain that Detroit will more than be back on its feet by 2016. Plus, you could utilize a lot of vacant land(depending on how much is there between today and summer of 2016). I don't know if the IOC would go for it; but, it'd be a great asset to Detroit. I'd at least put in a bid for 2016.
