Ruso: I knew this would get your goat. As Kissinger has said, the US didnt topple Allende, we just created the conditions under which the Chileans themselves could do it. He was an avowed Marxist, who was barely elected in a 3 way race with just over a third of the votes. He then took office and began to nationalize industry (which of course is really the government stealing private property). Inevitably, his socialist policies led to economic catastrophe and near famine. He then began to seize farmland and foodstuffs (all these seizures without compensation of course and "for the people"). Add to this his close ties with Castro and his assumption of other dictatorial powers and he had angered large majorities of the Chilean people. Hence the ouster. The Commonwealth Of Virginia has a motto which I find appropriate: "Sic semper tyranus - Thus always to tyrants".

Oh, am an american citizen. I live here, because I love it here. And, I alsolove the USA. You have no idea how many times I've been named "pig", "fascist", "traitor", for defending the USA's way of life. Nevertheless, there are certain things that dissapoint me greatly. The discussion we are having is thanks to liberty, and am seeing how it is starting to go away. I know people over there, who have been descriminated for not believeing in the government. It is a cliche, but for me : Dissent is patriotic.
