Anyone traveling down "Baja South Congress" should stop in and check out progress on The BelAir (right behind the vintage Airstream sales trailer). Construction is progressing on the first eight buildings. The design/construction techniques are unique for this type of product and the Austin market. The developers anticipate having a model unit ready later this spring.

Austin American-Statesman: Another SoCo shopping opportunity

The shops at 3100 South Congress Avenue are open for business. Grab a sweet treat at Amy's Ice Cream, then kill some time perusing Hip Haven and Unike Boutike for home decor and art, respectively. Wrap up your shopping experience with a stroll through Crown Clothing (an apparel store for men, from the people who brought you Service Menswear), Strut (similar to the funky women's clothing store on South Lamar Boulevard, only bigger) and The Firm, for the "girly look" all grown up. Best of luck keeping your wallet unopened.

The project at 1400 South Congress (post #2) recently broke ground and has a new name. It will now be called "04", named after the zip code 78704. The tenants for the retail space inclue:

By George - upscale clothing

Mars Restaurant and Bar - Asian and Middle Eastern influenced cuisine

Cissi's Market - specialty grocer

Anne Kelso Salon and Day Spa

The retail space should be ready by August. There will also be 28 condominiums built in a 5-story building that should be complete by late this year or early next year.

Sky Bridge Condominiums

website: http://skybridgeaustin.com/

604 North Bluff Drive

120 units

The Sky Bridge Condominiums will go up about five miles south of downtown at 604 N. Bluff Dr. near the intersection of South Congress Avenue and William Cannon Drive. The project is so named because the design calls for several units to be suspended over a green space and clubhouse.

The condos will feature 24 different floor plans ranging in size from 660 square feet to 1,600 square feet, surrounding a central courtyard. Prices will range from the high $140,000s into the $300,000s. Amenities will include a pool, fitness center, running trail and amphitheater for acoustical concerts.
