Jackson's new TelCom Center/Convention Center

I was browsing the 'net and came across this article about Mississippi state capital's new TelCom Center and Convention Center. The TelCom Center is a 74,000-square-foot center that will include a multimedia theater suitable for presentations, networked computerized training, video conferencing and delegate voting. It also will have an 8,100-square-foot gallery, board rooms with a private reception area and conference room and meeting rooms that can be partitioned. It is expected to complement the $61 million, 245,000-square-foot Jackson Convention Center for which construction is expected to get under way next year. It will adjoin the TelCom Center. Together, they are expected to have about an economic impact of about $80 million annually.

That's good news, particularly since Jackson's premier telecom company--WorldCom--went down in flames.

Maybe this will be something they can rebuild on.
