^Actually, I-77 is still 4-lanes in the northern portions of Mecklenburg County. It's really pathetic, not to mention that I-77 drops from 8 lanes in SC to 6 lanes in NC, lol. I wish the state would really evaulate how they spend money on projects, b/c if this keeps up Charlotte's air quality will continue to get worse and the region could risk loosing federal funding for transportation projects.

Well some parts of northern Mecklenburg I-77 were widened to 4 lanes each way and were given the HOV status.
