i agree about the name. holly hill reflected the property that the mall was built on. see my post about the old price house here:

Great pictures...though I always hate to see beautiful houses decay like this. I love the stone work.

It will always be Holly Hill Mall to me-even if the name changes 10 more times or more.

Why does this mall always change names? I've rememberd Holly Hill Mall and Colonial Mall. There are a lot more Colonial Malls around. There's a Colonial Shops in Greensboro (Quaker Village) and I've been to the one in Myrtle Beach. Are all of these name changes a prediction that this mall will soon die?

The Colonial name was gven to those malls by their owner, Colonial Properties Trust. They thought it was a good idea to give thir malls a brand identity to, I guess, let people know they when they traveled about, that they could depend on Colonial Malls for quality retail.

Westfield Property Trust did the same thing with its malls about the same time.

Did you know that BSM is North Carolina's oldest mall? It opened in 1970.

North Carolina's oldest mall is Charlottetown Mall (later Outlet Square and Midtown Square Mall, now demolished)... 1959. 1965- North Hills Raleigh opened... and 1970 SouthPark opened, but I didn't know BSM was as old as 1970.
