Detroit on All-Star Night, Part 1

I went downtown last night to check out the All-Star specatacle. No ticket, naturally, but I'd rather be walking around and taking in the sights outside the stadium. For once, it looked like Detroit's insane amount of parking was at capacity! I saw several garages with "full" signs. Of course, I found a spot on the street at Second and Fort, not wanting to pay up to $20 to avoid walking a few blocks.

Overall, what I saw was unlike anything I've ever seen in Detroit. The place was bumpin'! The main crowd was concentrated on East Adams and Brush, but Greektown and Campus Martius Park were buzzing as well. The pedestrian traffic was impressive! In addition, the new planters on Woodward and street lights everywhere else made it brighter than I can ever remember. One Detroit Center, the Bank One Building, Book Tower, the Penobscot and even the Guardian and Stott were lit up. All in all, very classy, very bright, a nice diverse crowd with a great party atmosphere.

I was surprised when a B-2 Stealth made a flyover.
