In a first for Boston, a community garden will be placed on top of a planned parking garage, as developers work with city officials to maximize buildable land and cooperate with the community to preserve dwindling green space.

that's pretty cool. i would like to see more green space wherever it can go.

That looks like Gateway Terrace, the new lofts on East Berkeley/Harrison/Washington streets.. and if so, that "park" is for residents only.

Well, that's what Gateway told me when I looked to buy there, anyway..

I wonder when they changed that, and how the new buyers of those lofts feel about it..

It's at 700 Harrison Avenue and the lot is currently a city owned public garden. In order to get development rights to the parcel, the developer had to create an equal amount of public open space on site. The came up with the parking garage rooftop garden. The garden will actually be larger than the current one, and the developer has been clear, it's a public garden, not a private ammenity for the residents.
