When I was at WMU we had the then president of WWMT come in and talk to our Broadcasting Sales class. He said that they had considered moving the station to Grand Rapids at one point. They realized however, that it was smarter for them to stay in Kalamazoo and cover the southern portion of the viewing area and let WOOD and WZZM battle for ratings and ad dollars in the Grand Rapids area. For all intensive purposes they dominate ratings and ad dollars in Kalamazoo and Battle Creek and also get revenue from those in GR that want to advertise on CBS. You don't have to have the highest ratings to make a good profit.
