Get Set For another Condo!

Article reveals many are already lining up to purchase the 84 units getting ready to go up at College {sodEmoji.{sodEmoji.|}} Park {sodEmoji.{sodEmoji.|}} & MLK. This is the third and largest, highrise condominium proposed for the downtown located in the FSU area. Already more than 100 have registered interest in the 84 units.

One of my favorite lines from the article: "We have to recognize that North Florida is changing," Hartung said. "There are local folks whose children are grown and they want to be close to downtown. ... This is the type of housing that affords those people to walk to these events. And then there are people who want to move back to their alma mater."

North Florida is indeed changing.

And an answer to our questions was presented. The seperate building which appears to be two stories is a retail building with lofts above. This will be a very expensive place to live so I'm assuming its going to be nice.

This sounds supurb. I went to Tampa monday and saw so many projects... but then i stepped back and thought about it.... none are really impacting them today. Tis not the same for us. 10+ stories to us, is fantastical!

You're absolutely right, which is why its so great to be in Tallahassee right now. We're virtually living in a reborn city, although 180 yrs old.

I can't wait to see the Plaza tower completed, its going to really stand out.

College parl commons is gonna be bangin... it looks so nice from the renderings, and the frontage retail is a big parcel.

Does anyone feel like they could have done a little differently with relation to the retail segment and the actual building. I don't know why, but I feel like they've waisted good space with this design, breaking the two parts up in that way.

I actually like their concept of having 2 stories of retail. I feel we can never have enough retail downtown. we need to get business booming downtown if we want to have our DT vibrant, and besides there are plenty of more condos to come.

I like the idea of two floors of retail also. But look at the rendering... couldn't they have designed a much better building if they'd incorporated that retail segment into the main portion. Would make for a taller structure.

maybe the developers wanted to leave an oppertunity to expand once the settling of the original investment provides a secure base for expansion. The site is big...

College Park Commons Update

This is a progress update from the developers provided by "Chip" Hartung.

"On November 22 the Tallahassee City Commission unanimously approved the Mixed Use Urban Planned Unit Development (PUD) for College Park Commons. This was an exciting milestone for developers Chip Hartung, Laurie Dozier and Jim Steiner. The unanimous approval was the result of many meetings with City of Tallahassee officials as well as representatives of FSU. With FSU it was especially important to make sure the project was consistent with the vision of FSU relative to College Avenue and the visual sight line to Westcott. With the City, the project needed to meet the goals of redeveloping downtown with residential development and complementary retail and office space."

Yet another detail I'm not able to provide. College Park Commons is really good abotu sending out updates periodically so I'm sure we'll know something soon. But estimates are January-February for ground breaking.

When it comes to growth, its all about patience. I want as much as you do to see Tallahassee with a dream skyline, but its going to take some time. Hang in there bud.
