Can anyone provide a rational explanation why the DDOT buses don't sell passes that aren't weekly/monthly/etc? Do they not have card readers, like SMART? I think the ability to purchase such a pass would make the bus system friendlier. Also, why are there not maps of the bus system on in the bus stop?

I asked why they sell one's that AREN'T monthly/weekly. I know they sell those passes, but SMART sells bus passes that have a certain value. DDOT doesn't.

Well, from my experience the only option you will have is buying a monthly "regional pass" from SMART locations. Due to an agreement with DDOT, both the suburbs and Detroit honor them. My information is current as of May this year, other than that blame the problem with transit on city government and the awful way it runs service. The cost? 50 dollars!
