Charlotte's Best Mexican

Are there many Monterreys in Charlotte?  I know Greenville, SC has about six.  I really like their cheese quesidillas.

I know of 3, Matthews, University and Pineville.. there may be more i'm not sure.

Cantina 1511 all the way. Awesome sangria, chips and salsa, and plantains and the quattro leche (sp?) cake is to die for.

looks like i gotta try this place seeing as a lot of people have given it rave reviews

Azteca on Independence in Matthews (I think it's better than the one on Woodlawn)

Zapata at Univ. City is good too, but it kind of went downhill in the last year.

I found La Paz to be disappointing, and I thought Cantina was just ok, certainly not worth the money or bad service.

According to this http://www.crosland.com/retail/properties/...est_piper_glen/ , Cantina 1511 is opening a store in Stonecrest.

I refuse to ever go to that joke of a restaurant again. After having a birthday party there with a couple dozen people and being pushed out when we hadn't even finished our dinner, I have completely lost anything I ever had for that place. It sickens me to think about all of the money a couple of dozen people can pour into dinner there with drinks from the bar and food only to be told by the owner that they need the table and we need to hurry up with our dinner.

I almost want the restaurant to fail miserably.

You guys need to go to Senor Tequila's. It is by far the best Mexican I've had in Charlotte, maybe the best I've ever had in the world. It's located on Rea Road in a brick shopping center in Piper Glen. It's not incredibly cheap, but not incredibly expensive either. A meal will run you anywhere from $8-$15. It's definitely worth it. Soo good.

Here's an info link. The menu is much larger than what is shown.

Also, I just tried out Charanda (new restaurant by Concord Mills mall on the movie theater end), and it was very good.

I really wasn't too impressed with Charanda. It tasted almost like a mexican TV dinner IMO. I've had better at Taco Bell.
