The actor, James Doohan, who played Scotty on the original Star Trek passed away today. He was 85.

i'm not a trekkie, or as trekkies refer to themselves "trekker" but i enjoyed watching the different series. i still haven't seen "trekkies 2" i would definitely recomend the first one. it's a documentary about hard-core trek fans.

Just out of curiousity, how old is William Shatner?

You younger guys may not realize there was animated series based off the the original show. James Doohan had a part to play in that and did some of the voices including his Scottie persona in that series.

I have always enjoyed the Star Trek series. I prefer the movies and 'The Next Generation' era shows more though. Still it is sad to see him go. I think the term Trakkie is more for the hard core people, which I am not
