2005 Hurricane Season

Is anyone kind of nervous on why are we having a very active hurricane season? This is the most ever on record to have 6 named storms into the month of July and today is only the 22nd. The previous record was 6 names storms was through August 5th. We already had 2 strong catagory 4 hurricanes.

Im not really nervous...but do find it interesting to see the Atlantic so "on fire" right now with storm after storm this early in the season. I also find it facinating that they all seem to be staying south of us. I do not wish it on us (NC, who seem to be in many of their path...especially in past years)...but do find it curious as each storm takes it's path towards FL and the Gulf and various points around there as they did last year for the most part.

I think it might be because of the climate conditions in the oceans that helps cause the # of hurricanes.

That, & the Jet stream(among many factors)...all make it interesting as you note the increase..
