Well the plant will be located in Woodstock, Ohio and not west Michigan. Apparently the top 2 factors were michigans high union percent and an 'unfriendly tax environment'. When will people figure out that today's labor unions are bad for the economy?

That plant that they are building in Woodstock, Ontario was already well in the works. I think Granholm was trying to increase interest in any potential plants in the future, since Toyota has a goal to build all of the vehicles they sell in North America to be built in North America. They also just announced that they want to make 25% of the vehicles they sell here to be hybrids in the coming years, including minivans, trucks, SUV's, etc..

I think the split up at the AFL-CIO recently is just the beginning of a major union shakeup in the next decade. Union numbers are dwindling, fewer are joining then ever before, and their importance is beginning to dwindle as well.
