Finger Lake Region of New York

The Village of Skaneateles is located in the western part of Onondaga County (Syracuse's county). It's on the northern most tip of Skaneateles Lake, one of the Finger Lakes.

Personal footnote: I can't believe all the people from different parts of the US and Canada that visit here. On my visit, I saw at least 6 or 7 different state license plates. Feels almost like Alex Bay (small tourist town in the Thousand Islands of NY) now with all the car and pedestrian traffic. It wasn't like this a few years ago.

What is special about this village and lake?

1. its one of the cleanest bodies of water in the world

2. Its the drinking water of the city of Syracuse (just the city, the burbs drink Lake Ontario water)

3. its located in the beautiful Finger Lakes region

4. most of the elite rich people living in the Syracuse area have a house on the lake

5. The village is very quaint and historic (think Copperstown, NY on a smaller scale)

6. Feels very upscale with the type of people you see walking around here
