It just occurred to me that there is no zoo in Charlotte!!!!! Why is this? The climate seems perfect for an awesome zoo

The state zoo is only slightly over an hour away. It's pretty good.

There is the Raptor Center at Latta Plantation. I highly recommend a visit if you have not been.

yeah, i think the state located the zoo in asheboro, as it is close to all three major metro areas, so that the resources could be pooled. I think it isn't too far away...

Charlotte Metro Zoo

The Charlotte Metro Zoo is an embarrassment...this is the one instance where I wish the city could trademark its name to keep businesses like this from putting their name on things.

I haven't heard that "zoo" being advertised much and the website no longer works, so it may have been shut down.

NC Zoological Park is a little bit of a drive from Charlotte, but is something that NC can really be proud of because of the open nature of the park. It really is one of the best zoos in the country.
