Solis Hotel coming to NW San Antonio

A new Solis Hotel will be opening in northwest San Antonio in late 2007. The new chain is planned to be on the same level as the Ritz-Carlton and Four Seasons. The Solis Hotel in San Antonio will have 150-rooms, a spa, gourmet restaurant, fitness center, outdoor bar and lounge, and meeting space.

Construction in San Antonio will begin in the spring of 2006. The four-story hotel will include 22 suites, 8,500 square feet of meeting and banquet space, a 4,500-square-foot junior ballroom, a 2,000-square-foot meeting room, and two boardrooms of 800 and 600 square feet.

The spa and fitness center will cover 8,000 square feet.

The Solis Hotel will be built near the intersection of Loop 1604 and I-10, close by the Shops at La Cantera and other malls that are being developed.

In addition to San Antonio, Solis Hotels will also be opening in these cities in 2007:

Chicago

Alpharetta, GA (outside Atlanta)

Paradise Valley, AZ (outside Pheonix)

Frankfurt, Germany

Orlando, FL (opening in 2008)

A column in the Express-News over the weekend had some more details about the new Solis Hotel. The development will have about a $35M-$40M price and it wil be located at The Rim shopping complex at the northeast corner of Loop 1604 and I-10. The Rim will feature a Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World and is across from the Shops at La Cantera that will feature upscale stores like Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom's, and Tiffany's. West Paces Hotel Group has pulled out of the planned Solis Hotel at The Rim in northwest San Antonio. Instead the developers will build a $130M high-end Hotel Talavera. It will be 13-stories with 152 romms and will also have 133 condominiums. The Hotel Talavera should be opened in the spring 2008.
