Medical Mile/Michigan Street Developments

I wonder if this banner represents the placement of the permanent signage?

A little birdy told me yes, as "they want it facing downhill like [most of] the others." That birdy may be talking out of his posterior, though. ;)

Construction trailers are gone from the front of the Van Andel Institute Phase II on Division. Hopefully Division to Michigan Street will be open soon.

Uploaded 105 photos to the August 2, 2009 set, including some nice shots of the construction being done with Crescent Park:

No pics, but some things I've noticed on the HDVCH:

The elevator core that sticks out the back side has been covered with this weird black brick.

They've started laying out the "garden" on the podium thing - lots of landscaping bricks and stuff shaping up. (not visible from the ground)

The first floor is pretty well closed in now with glass, and you can see where the entrances are going to be.

Rumor is they may actually be back on track to open late 2010 instead of early 2011.

A little birdie told me:

MSU med school - on schedule, on budget, still planning to open Fall 2010

VA II - ahead of schedule and under budget, planning to open Q1 2010

MSU is literally PACKED into their space now on North Division. They are very excited about making the move.

apparently there is going to be a block S sign added to the north side of the secchia center. is it up yet? any info on this?

Another Block S takes to the sky. The Secchia Center is on schedule and on budget to open for staff and faculty in June and for students in August of 2010. The Block S will proudly shine from the north side, 12 stories above the intersection of Division and I-96. We continue our fundraising for the building and are grateful to so many of you who have contributed to this state-of-the-art medical education building for the College of Human Medicine. The support of the physician community and the Grand Rapids community-at-large has made this possible for the medical school. The hard work of East Lansing-based faculty and staff brings this to fruition.
