The Enclave at the Riverfront

A few years ago, Alltel was booking some A list entertainment. Aerosmith, Elton John, Dave Matthews Band, Red Hot Chili Peppers/ Foo Fighters, Eagles, Norah Jones.

What happened? Maybe there just hasn't been anyone that I'm interested in, but it's been embrassing the past two years driving past the Alltel sign on I-30 seeing what the next show will be.

The Stones were not, but The Who was. Dirks Bentley was there recently, and Evanescence and Kenny Chesney are playing soon.

March 9, 2006, Rolling Stones, Stones were in LR. I think that's close enough to my 12 month estimate...within a few weeks.

With all of the redevelopment going on downtown, especially in the River Market, I'd love to see the Riverfront Ampitheater become something similar to the Backyard in Austin. It's prime real estate downtown that is dark and unused for 90% of the year.

Butch Stone and the city parted ways and Riverfront went dark. Coincidence? I think not.

I thought Stone was back in charge now.

I agree with Cru, the city needs to do something to make it a better venue and the bands will come. It's in sad shape right now.

Interesting shots. It really makes a distinct imprint on the riverfront.

The south facing apartments on the top two (maybe three) floors will have quite a view.

If the developers don't bury those utilities on the south side, that is short sighted. The utility poles and lines will blemish an otherwise spectacular view.

The exterior work is mostly done except for the west side.

Grand opening will be held this Thursday. Its 260 units will be a nice addition to the north shore. This is almost double the number of condo units Moses Tucker has brought on line in the River Market.

Agreed. It is not a very impressive structure. It doesn't help my impression any that the city let them build it all the way to the NW corner, blocking the skyline view of LR from the Alltel Arena entry plaza and concourse. In case anyone ever wondered, the arena was oriented NE-SW intentionally for that purpose - to take in the skyline view, which was rendered useless when these were built.

Does anyone know the percentage occupancy? I drove by the other day and it didn't seem like there was any activity in the area.
