Yep, I would hope that the new "Westendd Ballpark" could host a Southern Conference tournament, maybe even a return of the ACC tournament, which has been in baseball Siberia in some recent years in places like Salem, VA.

There are some top notch college baseball programs in South Carolina. Maybe some sort of a SC baseball classic featuring Furman, Clemson, Winthrop, College of Charleston, USC and Coastal Carolina in the new Ballpark? Maybe as a way at the beginning of seasons, before the Drive show up from spring training to get a staff up to speed with ballpark operations after a winter layoff? It could work.

Actually what would be great is to have a Tournement with our state colleges AND the Drive. Have the Drive in the tournement and see how our schools play against a A Team. Alot of those player are no older.

Well, other than the occasional college team that travels to Florida for an exhibition game, those sort of pro vs. college exhibition games are very rare, especially by March, when most college baseball teams are in the heart of their season. Georgia Tech and Georgia have in years past gone down to Florida to play the Atlanta Braves in early March for example.

Occasionally in years past, when the G-Braves came up from Florida, Furman would have a loose scrimmage with them. But top 25 ranked teams in the middle of conference seasons, like Clemson, USC and Winthrop, they just are not going to waste pitching in exhibition games when they are fighting for NCAA tournament seeding and home field advantages and conference standingss.
