russthebuss and Charleston Native, I am going to advise both of you now to quit lecturing other people on the Bible and their interpretation of it and to also quit making personal attacks on the other forumers for having differing opinions from yours.

If you can't stick to the facts or stating your opinion without attacking someone else's beliefs then don't post in this thread anymore.

No offense, but you need to read the Bible and not just quote a few verses. Jesus said to help the poor, indeed, but upon our own free will as individuals, not forced to, like many liberals would like under a more socialist government. Not pass judgment on others? Again, I love how you just read a verse and forget the rest. Jesus did say to not pass judgment, but he also said that we are to rebuke others when they do wrong, not just give them a pass. Forgiveness and love are more than just passivity and tolerance. Jesus Himself actually overturned tables, threw chairs and booths, and tossed out merchants when He saw them using the temple as a marketplace. Hmmm...that wasn't too tolerant of merchants, was it?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It is much easier to see Christ like that. That way, it is easy to be a Christian. That way it is easy to believe in Christ, while ignoring his teachings.

What bible are you reading from????? I will never believe that Jesus would be a liberal but the total opposite. You better spend a little more time in Bible study before making a comment like that and lets leave religion out of the politics here. There is a difference from being liberal and hating the sin and not the person. He preached against the sin and said not to hate the person. That doesn't mean to accept the sin by no means.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Again, interpretations of religion, the neverending justifications to ones'contradictory opinions.

 Umm, when did he reply back by saying that the other person was non-Christian and unpatriotic?! All he did was point out the failure of that person to completely read Scripture, and this person has thus failed to properly understand Jesus' teachings and Christian theology in general.

Hijack God and country?

Ease up guys. This is an emotional thread but one of much importance and I'd hate to see it get closed.

Notice how easily heated we can get over this. Now can we understand why getting certain programs, actions, "Repsonses" between party lines can be detrminetal to the cause?

That is what liberals do they twist things to make it work in their favor. I wasn't attacking anyone for not being a Christian. I too only support the Republicans because it is the lesser of two evils.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Very true man  Liberals always trying blaming others for their mistakes just like the Gov and mayor during the Katrina ordeal! They cant admit they messed up

 Aye Kurumba! Well, if I can't make an opinion about it and freely express it, I will no longer post on this thread. I guess the only thing I can do is leave with this to say:

Ruso, I disagree with you. It's not easy to forgive and not rebuke, and I don't think I ignore his teachings. I don't think my beliefs are twisted in any way, but that is how I see it.

I am sure you dont ignore his teachings. But if you think about it, nobody would ever accept that. Osama Ben Laden is sure about his correct interpretation of the Coran. That is the danger of religion, everybody is absolutely convinced. I can assure you that there is very few people who actually "accept" that their religion is twisted, for there is a reason for you or anyone to believe in it: You are convinced, you agree with it.

Everbody believes their are doing the right thing...

But, as you said, that is only my opinion. Maybe I'll just burn in hell for saying that....:o

Back to the political affliation question......

I'm a proud Whig.

Just kidding. I don't really like titles. I like how Nashvol85 worded his response. On some topics I can be very conservative and on other topics I can be liberal. I'm pretty independent I suppose....Libertarian to others.....moderate to others. Some of my friends call me Sandra Day O'Connor...whatever that means.

I just vote my heart so I guess that makes me a Celeste. :)

I do like getting all the Republican Party invites though. They can throw some of the best parties at the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead and when there are presidential meetings in DC, you are treated like royalty. All of these niceties and constant invites from working on the failed campaign of Guy Millner who ran for governor of Georgia....and then later for Johnny Isakson.

I think that is essential. To be independent, and not to be absolutely bound to your political affilition, regardless of how contradictorial it might be. To defend somthing just because it is supported by your party is ilogical and the inverse of what you should actually do: Support a party because it supports an idea you agree with. (if it does)

Lol, drunk and writing in UP! That is interesting, what did yuo drink? LOL

I consider myself a liberal. In any nation, under any gov., with anybody, I'll support the basics of a real liberalism, progresism. I am independent, but my tendencies are liberal, even if sometimes I have complete agreements with conservatives. It is all about your own opinion, which has to be based on information and education. It is not about your party's opinion.
