I am going up to see my grandparents on Monday so I will try to visit Flint and get some pictures of any new development to spark more discussion in this dead forum. I am also visiting one of my favorite little towns, Holly.

Well, I just got back from my little trip to Detroit and in doing so, I just had to get off I-75 and drive through Flint just to see how it was looking.

I jumped on 475 and took the Saginaw St. exit and then drove south all the way to downtown. Beecher was looking as always. Nothing new and not so good. But I have to say, it hasn't gotten any worse, so I guess that's good news. Same for Flint from the city limits to the edge of downtown. Nothing new, but still the same. Downtown, however looked pretty good. It was Tuesday and in the afternoon, and to my suprise there was quite a bid of foot traffic, as well as auto traffic. It looked cleaner than I remember and I wish I had my camera to take some pics, but I did not.

I was in Flint today to meet my grandparents to eat and hang out. I was with the family so I didn't get to drive around or take photos but I didn't realize that from 69 you could see Genessee Towers and the Mott Foundation Building.

Yeah, you can see them top of them. The best view is from the interchange with 475. When you merge from EB 69 onto 475(dont remember which direction) you are elevated above DT, so you get a cool view.

Actually, it looks like it may have been taken from some news studio tower.

It does look like the same shot you get from the WJRT tower cam, but on that one, there is a blue banner at the top giving the date and time.

I've always wondered, what are the most widely accepted borders of downtown Flint, particularly to the north? I hear the Hotel Durant always described as being downtown, and I guess in the old days as much as the north river side of the river was built up that must have been the case. But, seeing how it stands now, it would seem that the downtown ends at the river.

I've always considered Fifth Avenue being the northern border, MLK the western border (north of the river) and Grand Traverse (south of the river), I-69 on the south and I-475 on the east. That's just my opinion though; I've never really heard an official answer.
