Pinnacle Hills Promenade

Not to sound like a critic but are there going to be any "upscale" stores in this supposedly "upscale" shopping center? So far the Parisian is the only tenant with an "upscale" reputation.

Parisian is going in the Pleasant Crossing development, while the Promenade is getting the Dillards and JC Penny. I haven't heard much on Pleasant Crossing other than Sportsman's Warehouse, Parisian, Backyard Burgers, Arvest Bank, Wal-Mart Supercenter, Malco Theatres, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Michael's Arts and Crafts. They haven't announced smaller tenants which I'm waiting for them to do in the next few months. Hopefully, we will see some more upscale ones.

I'm sorry but having Parisian listed in with all those low and middle class stores just seems odd. It's like having Macy's stuck between a Big Lots and a Burger King. Here I was worried that shopping the new "lifestyle" centers would be out of my price range.

Well actually, all of these tenants except for Parisian are going to be in the the Big Box Power Center, nothing besides Parisian has been announced for the Lifestyle Center, so we may very well get some upscale shopping still.

Just thought I would let everyone know that I looked on Pleasantcrossing.com (Pleasant crossing's website) and pulled up the PDF version of the layout of the center. There were several names listed as tenants that the developer has still not announced. They are as follows:

Power Center:

Backyard Burgers

The Market (a furniture store)

Best Buy

Bed Bath and Beyond

Ross

Michaels

Gordmans

TJ Maxx

Office Supply Store (name not listed)

Lifestyle center:

Malco Cinemas

Parisian

Ethan Allen

No restaurants are listed in either center beside Backyard Burgers.

Matt,

I looked on the www.pleasantcrossing.com website and looked at their PDF file of the layout of the center. If you zoom in far enough, you can see the names written on the buildings and what they will be. Not all the buildings were named, but many of them were named. I do think we need additional big box stores, such as Sports Authority or Academy, Nordstrom Rack, Borders Books and Music, Crate and Barrel, SuperTarget, Costco, and FAO Swartz. These are somewhat upscale stores that are not in our area and not really even in Arkansas, beside Academy and Sports Authority. I really do have my doubts on what other stores will be in the lifestyle center. Someone really needs to think about putting in a Nordstrom. Everyone I talk to loves that store, especially women. They all shop online right now b/c there is not one in the region besides Kansas City. That would really add to the area as well as the region. We have the perfect demographics to support a store like that. Anyway, I guess we will just have to wait and see what other stores come to both centers. It looks like also that Pleasant Crossing Lifestyle center won't open until 2007. What happened to it opening this year?

Nice find, I didn't even know they had a website, I think its great that a best buy is coming, after all that is the 2nd best store in the world. My only question is why the heck is best buy building way out in pleasant grove and not is scottsdale or somewhere closer to the main part of town?

By the way what is that they are building across the street from wal-mart? what is that development called? I thought that was part of the pleasant crossing, but I didn't see it on the website, so i'm guessing its not.

I think they have decided to build off Pleasant Grove Road which is situated in the center of Northwest Arkansas, and not just the center of Benton County. I think it's smart because that way more tax money will be spent in Rogers.

The thing across the street of Wal-Mart is the Tuscany Square Development, which is to include a Curves Womens Gym, Wooden Tee, Cingular Wireless/ Cellular Pagerhouse, Subway, and Starbucks.

I still think Pleasant Grove is going to open this year, or parts of it around December or so. It looks like the Promenade is going to open first though, seeing as how they are on schedule for an early October opening. Nice find RemusCal. I've tried zooming on that PDF before, but I could never make out the names on the buildings.

It was my understanding that the lifestyle center would be pushed back a bit. I believe what they are constructing right now out there is the other stuff (Best Buy, TJ Maxx, etc.)... I think. I thought the lifestyle center was delayed because it was competing with the Promenade for similar tenants.

Another possible reason they might wanna delay is the delay for improving the Pleasant Grove interchange. Engineering work is still being done (I can't say much more than that) while I think Rogers is still trying to figure out a funding strategy to pay for it.

You're right about them pushing back the lifestyle center for improvements on Pleasant Grove Road. They don't want too much traffic on the road right now.

They aren't pushing back the lifestyle center for competition though. They would try to finish well before the Promenade for revenue.

The only big box retail currently under "visible construction" is Sportsmans Warehouse. The rest are still at foundation construction.

I found this layout of the super trendy mall that is going in Pinnacle Hills in Rogers. It is absolutely incredible. It looks similar to The Plaza in Kansas City.

Also, we will be getting another mall called Pleasant Crossing. I heard they are attracting the same tenants and restaurants. It will be interesting if one shopping center is higher end or if they both will be high end.

What are your thoughts?

Hey Ya'll, Im from Springfield, MO. Its nice to see there is developmnet elsewhere in the Ozarks. Springfield has been consistantly booming for over 20 years now (most recently in downtown) and does not look to slow down. That Pinnacle Hills Promanade looks awesome, it reminds me of Chesterfield Village in Springfield. Anyway I wanted to tell ya'll about a new shopping, and entertianment district going up in Branson called Branson Landing( bransonlanding.com). There will be a Hilton hotel, along with many luxury condos, high-end retailers, and many top of the line restaurants. The designers of the fountains at the Belagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas are designing the Fountians at the Landing. Critics are saying this will be the Beverly Hills of the Midwest. The first phase opens in May 06' with the rest following in the fall (I can't wait!). This is awesome news for Branson and Springfield. The Landing is only 20 min. from Springfield.

Welcome to the Arkansas forum slyder1. I know mant of us here in NWA try to keep an eye on what's going on up there around Branson and Springfield. Thanks for the update. I haven't noticed much interest in the Missouri forum outside the St Louis and Kansas City areas. Feel free to join in over here, as I said I think many of us wouldn't mind hearing some more and discussing some areas of the Missouri Ozarks. From what I hear I think southwest Missouri seems to be doing pretty well too. Although it's probably not booming like NWA or the Branson/Springfield area.

In the past 2 years almost every building in Downtown Springfield has been renovated. More than 300 lofts have made their home in downtown ranging from $600-$2000. In addition to downtown, many 10-12 story office buildings are breaking ground or are in the process of being built all around Springfield. Also in Downtown, Jordan Valley Park is being built as we speak, and will take up 250 acres of the downtown area.

This includes the already built Ice Park( with 2 ice rinks) Hammons Field (home of the 9,000 seat AA Springfield Cardinals) which is the nicest minor league field in the nation, and the 200,000 sgf. Expo Center.

Go here to see the Park renderings: Jordan Valley Park

The Springfield Airport is the 2nd fastest growing airport in the nation and was recently named the Springfield Branson National Airport. While most airports are having flights taken off their lineup, Springfield is adding flights.

Thanks for the update. I know the airposrt here in northwest Arkansas, XNA, is doing quite well too. I also wanted to mention I started a Springfield/Branson topic. I figure it would make it easier for future use if we ever wanted to look back and try to find some of the info.

Does anyone have any ideas about where all these new department stores and retail stores are going to get their employees? I'm guessing they'll need several hundred employees combined. With unemployment being so low I don't see how they're going to fill positions unless they pay higher than normal retail jobs usually pay, which is very unlikely. I have a feeling there will be more help wanted signs than sale signs in all these new stores. I can't see anyone leaving one low paying job for another low paying job.

Good point, I hadn't thought about it. But we are talking about quite a few stores and they'll need a certain number of employees. But I do think more people might jump jobs and try out a position there. That seems to happen a lot in NWA. But with so many jobs out there a lot of people don't seemed too concerned about losing their jobs because it's not too hard to go out and find another. This obviously doesn't apply to everyone and to every type of job. I suppose other places could lose employees because of this.

I can imagine Northwest Arkansas Mall may lose some of it's "retail professionals" to the new shopping centers. But it's hard to say right now if there will be a deficit of applicants for all the new retail jobs coming. It's not going to be like a new Wal-Mart opening where 15,000 people show up to apply for 200 jobs. It's going to be tough for some of these retailers coming into this market... not only to fill positions but also to make competetive sales figures. I've managed a retail store in Northwest Arkansas and I can honestly say retail employees in Northwest Arkansas are among the laziest workers I've ever known. That's coming from someone who has managed stores in West Virginia and have been in retail for quite a few years in different cities all over.

I really think the low unemployment really makes people 'lazy' in this aspect. They see it as no big deal if they have to they'll simply go find another job which of course is easy to do around here.

Another Tenant has been announced for the Promenade.

White House/ Black Market

Any idea what type of place this is? I can't say I've heard of them.
