Hard Rock Hotel Biloxi

Just an interesting rumor i heard from my roomate thismorning. he just started at Resorts in Tunica, and he told me they just took down the Resorts sign and replaced it with "Casino". Also, the matchbooks are now generic "ThankYou" matchbooks, which is what happened just before Harrah's sold the property. If your now wondering why I posted this in the Hard Rock thread.. this is where the rumor takes us... The owners of Resorts were in last week with the Hard Rock people, could all of this be a sign that the casino could be sold to Hard Rock? Maybe. Resorts is the third casino to occupy that bulding and with the execption of Harrah's for a short time, non have fared well. Maybe Hard Rock will be the boost that Casino Strip resorts needs to get it back on the map as a destination for the Memphis crowd.

Hard Rock Biloxi to Open July 4th

The 300 room Hard Rock Hotel in Biloxi will finally open its doors on Independence Day. The hotel was just two days away from its grand opening when Katrina inflicted catastrophic damage to the property. This time, the casino is being rebuilt on pilings. As for its size, I think 300 rooms isn't nearly enough, but perhaps there is room for an expansion in the future. I loathe Hard Rock Cafes, but the hotels are an entirely different story. It will be interesting to see what the Beau Rivage will do in response. This ought to be good for the market in Biloxi.

As far as I know, the new casino should be roughly the same size. The main difference is that the new casino is supported by pilings instead of floating on a barge. As attractive as the interior may be, I still think the exterior looks a bit utilitarian. Maybe they will expand the project eventually.

If you mean the beaches, I think the plan is to restore them all- eventually. It will be a long, arduous process. Debris is still floating in daily.

As for the Hard Rock Hotel, the plans are to open the hotel and casino of 7/07/07....a nice number for a casino. I still think the number of rooms is far too small- it should have at least 500. In any event, I think this may lend a bit of energy to the market. From all I have heard, the casinos are doing quite well. How much better do they need to do before others will invest in the market? No investment means no growth.

Hard Rock Biloxi Taking Reservations

The Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Biloxi is now taking reservations for hotel rooms. The hotel's grand opening will be on July 7th, but the hotel is expected to have a "soft" opening a couple of days beforehand. I'm pleased to see that nightclub heavyweight Rande Gerber will open a club in the new resort. Rise will be only about 4,000 square feet, but it should be a popular attraction. Amenities like plasma tvs and Bose sound systems in the rooms should also be a big +.

Hard Rock Prepares for Opening Day

The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is preparing to open its doors on July 5th, with a grand opening ceremony on July 7th. From what I have seen in the video and on the website, the property should be a good addition to the casino mix on the Coast. I still think there aren't enough rooms, but this could eventually change. There's plenty of room on top of the parking garage for another rooms tower.

Hard Rock- Soft Opening This Saturday

The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will open a week early. The formal opening is still scheduled for 7.7.07, but the resort is ready to receive guests, so the doors will be opeing early. The opening of this hotel is very important to the recovery of the area. The half-destroyed casino hotel was a symbol of Katrina's wrath. Its completion, it may serve as a signal to other developers that the Coast is back in business.

I am confused as to why everyone thinks that gambling is the answer. Everyone will say look at Mississippi and Louisiana and all the money they get for their schools from gambling... those are about the only two states we are ahead of in education. The numbers do not add up. Not to mention, pumping more money into miserably run schools is not the answer. I'd rather invest my money into something else unless they get some responsible people running education in this state. Don't waste my money...

Welcome to the forum Joe. Your points about gambling are well taken. If the clock could be turned back for Mississippi, it might have been a better choice not to have gone for the Golden Goat. The die has been cast and the fastest way out of the morass for the Coast seems to have been throwing its lot in with the casinos, for good or ill. The casinos have brought riches to the Coast, but they have come with a price. As for the people who travel in the wake of casinos, your point is also well taken. I am happy to see that the Coast is beginning to look beyond the baize for other opportunities in tourism growth. I look forward to your participation here.

Hard Rock Opening

The "soft" opening of the Hard Rock Casino and Resort took place on Saturday morning. Initial reports indicate a rather plain casino area, but I'm told that the restaurants and rooms are quite nice. The pool area is also said to be attractive. Whatever one thinks about casinos, this will be a positive addition to the hotel offerings on the Coast. I wish I could see as much news coming forth about non-casino/luxury condominium development on the Coast. This isn't following the pace of casino development. People are going to have to live somewhere, so I'd think the casinos would want to encourage the development of affordable housing.

I went here this weekend, and LOVED it!! It's an excellent addition to the Coast. One thing that I loved seeing is the addition of pedestrians to Highway 90. There was a lot of foot traffic between Beau Rivage and the Hard Rock. I'd love to see more developments like this along the Coast. I gotta say, this is kinda like the Palms to the Coast. It attracts a young crowd, and it is truly a unique place for the Coast. I loved seeing the memorabilia that was rescued from the Gulf.

Cool! That's the vibe I have heard about too. Did you get a chance to see Rande Gerber's night club Rise on the top floor? I've heard that it's rather more sophisticated than most places around there. Also, I have heard many people who frequent the Beau Rivage say that they would welcome the change. In the end, it's best for the different age groups to have places that they can call their own. I hope to see it soon.
