Good news for college bound kids in the burgh.

The average cost to outfit a dorm room is $2,751.79, according to Pricerunner, which is operated by Westlake, Calif.-based ValueClick Inc. Pittsburgh was the cheapest, followed by Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, Miami, Denver, Los Angeles, Seattle and New York.

It looks like all they looked at were local prices for electronic gadgets which you can get cheaper online anyway regardless of where you live. They should have compared costs of opening bank accounts, service plans for phones and television, parking permits, public transportation, local restaurants, etc. Who spends $2,000 on brand new electronics their freshman year, anyway?
