Just a little update on the road itself. Looks like they're ahead of schedule. The road is supposed to be completed by October but if they're already at the 50% mark it may be much sooner.

"Construction continues with the installation of Abutment A, on the north side of the bridge. The storm drainage work is beginning north of the proposed bridge. The installation of curb and gutter is partially complete south of the proposed bridge structure to Bonney Road. The project is approximately 40% complete. Last updated: 02/26/2010 07:48:18 AM

Take this with a grain of salt but it seems like some of the equipment on site is actually working on prepping the land where the buildings will be located. Kinda hard to discern from the vantage point that I had but I'm feeling optimistic about it. Nothing that looks remotely like a pile driver though, which would really confirm this theory. They usually drive test piles a month or two before actual construction starts so I'm really hoping to see that soon if they're serious about that Nov 2011 date.

Good news everyone, the bridge is not high enough [/Professor farnsworth]

A bridge under construction connecting Town Center to Bonney Road is not high enough, according city engineers. Work has slowed on the Constitution Drive extension project, which taxpayers are helping fund with $8.5 million invested in the project.

"There doesn't seem to be high enough clearance between the bridge and the water," said Drew Lankford, a spokesman for the Public Works department.

He said the bridge is not sinking.

City engineers plan to meet next week with the contractor, Ripley Heatwole Company, Inc. of Virginia Beach, to determine how to fix the snag

Terpster of course is incorrect in his reporting, the developer is paying for this not the City.

The bridge is about 95% Complete. They had about 5 Cement Trucks out there today pouring on the ends of the bridge where it meets the road. The trucks were driving across the bridge. the guardrails are up! and they are starting to lay the foundation for Cityview II Project. . There are at least 2 dozen steel pilings sitting there. That is defiently not part of the bridge! I will stop over this weekend and take pictures

Here's the update from the city's website:

The new 5' sidewalk on the north has been installed. The stamped concrete sidewalks and median on the bridge will be completed by October 1st. The approach slabs are complete for the south side of the bridge. Installation of the HDD waterline is underway and expected to be complete by Oct 5th. The project is approximately 85% complete. I do not think its possible for construction to be complete by October 5th. They still have alot of work that is not complete following the big storm that is currently in our area. The rain and wind and such will just delay the project until November at the lastest

Read what it says. It says installation of one particular thing.
