i think you have to have @ least 10 posts before you can view.

welcome to the planet!

All members (including new members) and all visitors can view pictures posted to UrbanPlanet.org. The only restrictions for new members (up to 10 posts) is that the PM system is crippled and a couple of other minor things. As far as posting/viewing of posts are concerend there is no handicap.

Thanks for the welcome. i've been reading this forum for a long time. I figured it was time I actually started interacting.

I don't know how I missed those pics...I must have skipped a page or something.

Thanks again...

At least the hands are back on the south facing clock face now.

I still think this project is completely nonsensical. It makes The Park look like a marketing bulls-eye.

"Watch" for the flippers at this place, to get their clocks cleaned! Huh huh. Huh huh. :P Yeah I just had to "wind up" there...

That is a rather old picture. I imagine the condo tower will look quite different. I think the balconies are going to look really great. I wouldn't underestimate this project.. it has to be somewhat nice to survive in between 2 hotels ;) I would expect hotel renovations in the next 5 years that will really make the hotels upscale.

I think this is still a very odd project... It looks like they should put a casino or something in between the 2 towers.. not a condo project. I could imagine your view would be a lot like the apartment in the movie "Rear Window" :)

Someone finally hit it! It does seem that it will look like some kind of casino or cheeze resort type building. I don't think the faux stucco and the color help at all...

i think metro has a favorite saying, "putting perfume on a pig". IMO, theres is no amount of bells and whistles that could possibly make this attractive... @ the current pricing. i don't think this thing would even measure up to current myrtle beach standards as far as design goes.

correct me if i'm wrong... but isn't a concrete framed building deemed of better quality than a steel framed building? if i'm correct in that assumption, then it makes this project even more puzzling. (even though i do like the rate in which steel frame progresses)

oh well, i'm done. i will just file this under WTF.

Is anything happening here? Compared to the activity I see at 210 Trade, Trademark, Avenue, etc. this project seems very quiet. I swear, that crane hasn't budged in two weeks.

If you thought the clock towers were ugly, imagine that rusting steel skeleton sitting on the skyline for 5 years.

The crane's been up each day I've passed by it on my way to work around 9:00. But by 6:00 coming home, it's usually back down. Maybe you were just passing by at the wrong time. It was down yesterday due to the weather and they lower it each night when they are finished for the day.

So this discussion has been pretty much dead for the last month. I haven't made it out that way during the daytime to get a close up look since they put the first few stories of the skeleton up. Have they gotten any further on the structure/height yet?

It's quite tall now, it's most of the way up the clock tower. It's taller than when I saw it last.

I think they are actually done with the steel skeleton. The crane is gone, and I believe they are actually all they way to the top of the clock tower, except for the very top, which I believe will be left taller than the new wing.

You are right D. They are done with the skeleton. Now we just wait to see the outside put on, which should be only a matter of a few months. I still hate this building, but I am finally glad the project is being "completed".
