City to sell riverfront land

Detroit wants to see shops, residences in time for 2006 bowl

In some cases this is good news there getting land to be developed but i was hoping for something bigger than some 5 story buildings but hey they are better than nothing at all.

Would you rather have 5 story buildings or vacant land/parking lots? I don't think we should be building anything real tall right on the riverfront anyway....look at the ren cen for example. The tall buildings should go in the core of downtown.

Yeah I see your point well can they go up to 7 then you know like 2 story penthouse or something

Another thing to keep in mind is that the riverwalk is east of downtown. So this is more of an infill to create a lowrise urban neighborhood. There are some towers planned though - Taubman's new tower, whatever goes on the Uniroyal site, Harbortown expansion, etc.
