Crime in Charlotte

I am amazed that the murder rate has gone down since the late 60s early 70s. I remember living in Charlotte in 1969-1970 and there were well over 100 murders per year. It had one of the highest, if not the highest, murder per capita rates in the U.S. And even then it seemed pretty safe if you used good common sense. Biggest thing then was to lock your doors and make sure your windows were shut at red lights. I am proud that the muder rate has gone down so much considering that the population was about half then what it is now.
