On a restaurants and bars related note....

Four major cruise ships (blue dots) anchored offshore with one in port along with the Victory 1 casino ship, all sitting empty, save for the crews.

The final amount of revenue lost when this is all over is going to be staggering.

I know they employ lots of people, many of them US citizens who are terribly impacted. But I wonder if the new Senate bill provides financial support to the companies themselves. Don't they all sail under some other nations flag to avoid paying US taxes? Please correct me if I'm wrong. I admit to not knowing much about this industry.

I don't know anything about that either, though one of them is a Disney ship.

Not sure how that would work.

American Social takeout review. It’s out Dr. Phillips way and there are discounts and prizes to be won.

That put Scott J in a very good mood ( @AndyPok1 will be shocked!):

Not an Orlando-based restaurant, but close ...

It ain’t Ronnie’s, but popular in O-Town for a long while now. Hope they’re able to pull out.

In other news based closer to home, Sette in Ivanhoe Village is on pause while the owners look for a new home.

Saw it listed for lease a few days ago and was wondering if it was done or they were hoping someone would take over the lease.

Here’s hoping they can find another location and make a go of it. The food is excellent and fits into a unique niche in the city’s food scene.

Personally, I just want Brian’s sticky buns back (Dan Quayle sat there and ate his potatoe!)

Sadly, if we had light rail with a stop at Virginia, they’d be in great shape. Thanks, Clarence Hoenstine!

Oh well, maybe when the new overpriced apartment tenements open...

This is an example of where we are not much more urbanist than those in Horizon West.

Link 102 runs every FIFTEEN minutes

Lynx has mobile ticketing

Lynx has an Uber-like bus tracker

The trip from the station downtown to Orange & Princeton is TEN minutes

The trip for an Eola Heights resident catching it on Magnolia & Amelia and getting off at Virginia is something like 6-8 minutes.

You’ve gotta be the change you’re hoping to see in this city.

I would agree with you except that, after my car was stolen in 2001. I decided to use Lynx and become a true urbanista. I won’t tell you how many late buses, buses that simply didn’t come or buses that zoomed past me because they were full that I dealt with over the year before I eventually broke down and replaced the car.

Admittedly, maybe the downtown routes are more trustworthy (this was primarily commuting to I-Drive and back, as well as to medical appointments and the like), but it was far from as reliable as MARTA rail/bus that I used in Atlanta.

Nevertheless, you need not worry about me. From my convenient perch here along the shores of Eola, I generally walk or ride my bike to places close at hand other than driving to work. Being able to walk to Publix is one of the joys of my life (although as @nite owℓ knows, I do make a Target run every Sunday morning to protest Publix’ politics). I’m content to walk or ride to the Y, Church, the library and to Maxine’s and BEEFY so I may keep my Navy Blue level DNC card.

If we ever get rail or more dependable service from Lynx (there are small cities in Indiana with more buses), perhaps I’ll branch out. For now, I’m content.

Apparently the Millenia location of La Madeline closed ... in December. Soon to be replaced by a Chick-fil-a.

Did LM tear down the original Mimi’s Cafe building? If so, this will be the third time a building has been constructed on this parcel in less than 20 years.
