I was born in Durham (Duke University Medical Center) and raised in the town of Franklinton, NC which is north of North Raleigh/Wake Forest. Went to school there, graduated high school there. I was probably just like many of you who didn't grow up in the city: Going to Raleigh was an experience to me, even though it wasn't very far away (this was pre-growth so it was a lot further in those days but still). If we were going to do anything or go somewhere, we went to Raleigh. As a result, Raleigh sorta became a "magic place" in my eyes and that's why I love it to this very day. I'm sure you can all relate to the feeling of driving downtown if you don't live there. After that I moved to and lived both downtown Oxford, NC and on the outskirts in a community called Berea (rented houses) so I could be closer to where I was working and going to school (VGCC) and also to move out of my parent's house and be on my own. I ended up getting a better job in Raleigh after finishing school and thus I moved into an apartment downtown with my cousin who at the time was a grad. student at State. Living downtown for the first time in my life was an awesome experience. After about 2 1/2 years I decided to go back to school to a 4-year and study and get a degree in what I'd always wanted to (Poli. Sci). I looked at schools, decided on Georgetown, got in, moved to D.C. and after 5 years I left with my B.S. I lived up there for over another year working for both a lobby firm and two Congressmen (I interned for a bunch during school too) throughout that time but eventually I decided that

I missed NC too much and wanted to move back, so that's what I did and I've been living here in Raleigh again ever since. It's been about 2 1/2 years now and I currently work in RTP, but recently I've got a very good job offer which would require me to move back to D.C. and I'm thinking about taking it because it's basically what I've always wanted to do. I've also been thinking about going back to school to get my Masters so if I move back to D.C. I can do both.

I think that pretty much covers everything. Sorry for the life story LOL.

I was born in San Diego, CA. Moved to Fayetteville when I was 6 months old. Been in NC ever since. Outside of living in Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach a couple of years when I was a kid, and living in Raleigh from 1996-1999, I have lived in and called Fayetteville home.

By the way, I have just started posting recently, so I am pretty new to this. I discovered this site last year and love to read about all of the things happening in NC. I love to read the Charlotte, Triangle and Triad latest happenings. It's amazing to me all of the things that I have learned reading your posts. Thanks so much. I am sure many will find this hard to believe but I do love Fayetteville, I just wish we had all of the activity that other areas of NC has. Keep posting - I love it!!

NC native - born in Charlotte (through 18 years old), Boone (18-30), Chapel Hill (ever since). Haven't lived in but have spend plenty of time in Asheville, Wilmington, Greensboro and Greenville.

With extended family and friends elsewhere (Atlanta, San Fran, NYC, Miami, DC area) I've managed to have a number of opportunities to go elsewhere, but there's too much to love (and plenty of opportunities) in all 3 of the major regions of NC, and I'd continually miss it. Plus I get to visit NYC or the Bay area and not have to deal with their cruel and extreme $ costs of living...
