St. Mary's School in Greektown

Is there anything going on with that building? I see a perfectly good girl's school building going to waste... Yes I realize that downtown's population (especially of school age children) might not support it at first but if you pull in kids from that stretch of Gratiot and beyond I could see some decent figures. Maybe that's just my hopeful heart tortuing me again. But it upsets me that Detroit's classical (and yes, elite) schools have either closed up shop or headed for the hills. Unless someone know's different...

According to the revised Greektown Casino expansion, the building would be renovated. The usage is unkown, but it would not be used for gaming.

It would be a nice community center for after-school activities and stuff. I really love that building.

I've never seen this said guy with guitar, perhaps because it's always cold or raining when I'm in Greektown... Maybe someone up there is trying to send me a message...?

That reminds me, I'm also interested in this old school building off Cass across the street from Burton Internation School. I just found it maybe a month ago and I'm kind of shocked that it managed to survive this long. The building looks like it's in great shape to be so obviously old. I'm not sure if it's in use as a school or not but given the proximity to Burton I don't think that's the case. Too bad I don't know the name of it.

If you mean the high rise, that's 1300 East Lafayette in Lafayette Park.

Yes, 1300 Laffayette is a Cooperative (rent to own).

The trees would either be Belle Isle or Canada. This is somewhat of a zoomed photograph.

You can also see the Harbortown Condo Tower peeking out on the right side of 1300.

That's really a fantastic shot. The area looks like it should be so much more cozy right around the corner... But then the laws of nature are against us in Detroit.

Until i saw the Ren Cen in the back i thought that picture could easily have been from New York or Chicago. Nice photo of a beautiful building.

I like the picture with the Greektown Water Tower in it. I don't know why, but it just does not seem like Detroit. That tower in Lafeyette Park is so nice. It's really lit up. I still can't figure out if that is Canada or what in the background?
