Those maps must have taken quite a while to create. I've heard it was one of the last things finished.

I kinda liked that newspaper layout of the site, but it was a lot of work to keep up the daily articles.

I was thinking of the daily article. It sounded like you had to find a new one each day.

^I think the 'articles' were actually just regular forum posts. Was that how it worked? It was cool to see your thread put on the homepage.

along with generating each of those photos, hosting them, and putting together all the links that sent it to a real thread on UP.

That setup was very well intentioned, but in reality a difficult one to maintain. But in retrospect, it was harder because we had less activity than we do now. With all of the activity we have going on at UP these days, that old system could be easier to maintain! That said, the new portal is quite awsome

I love the new homepage! It seems like it is alot easier to find things on. Thats just my opinion.
