Upon the announcement that the old FORE systems (now North American HQ for Marconi PLC), was being bought by Swedish telcom giant Ericsson, the same fears that became realized during the dotcom bust 5 years ago were being reported from the Marshall campus.

Looks like the CEO from Sweden chose the Pittsburgh center to make the announcement of the deal, and also stated to reporters that although job cuts are a certainty the Pittsburgh unit won't have any! He went on to say that before Marconi swallowed up FORE in the late 90's making Pittsburgh it's continental base, Ericsson was in serious talks to buy into the Pittsburgh tech star.

Looks like that campus is back and kicking, add the stablization (could we be bold enough to say growth?) of the "Ericsson" Tech campus as well as HJ Heinz moving into some of the "tech bubble" castles up there to plant down firm roots for is Global food research center and we might have ourselves a Silicon valley in the minature ;). One can only hope!
