In the Dallas area...

Six Flags over Texas

Sixth Floor Museum (the location of the Kennedy Assassination)

Arts District (Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Gardens, Crow Museum of Asian Art, and other buildings)

Dallas World Aquarium

Southfork Ranch (for the really corny)

Reunion Tower

The best destination in the area is the Fort Worth Stockyards Nat'l Historic District. It's a well-preserved classic stockyard from the turn of last century complete with rail depot, Cowboy Hall of Fame, numerous saloons and western stores, massive rodeo/coliseum, and the largest Honky Tonk in the world (Billy Bob's Texas). Twice a day they parade longhorns down the brick streets in classic cattle drive style. It's very unique.

Here are just some of the many things you can do in Baton Rouge.

Mall of Louisiana: Like no other! The largest, most glamerous new mall in the Southeast offers stunning decor, food court, carousel, and a host of premier stores on two levels. Anchors: Foley's, Dillards, J.C. Penny's, McRae's and Sears.

Louisiana State Museum:Baton Rouge is a 69,000 square foot facility located on the corner of 4th and Spanish Town Road, across from the Capitol Gardens. The museum's permanent exhibits will highlight those aspects of Louisiana's history that are nationally significant, as well as those aspects of the state's culture that are unique. A large gallery will also house changing or traveling exhibitions.

Shaw Center for the Arts:Located in the newest cultural destination in downtown Baton Rouge, the LSU MOA features 17th-20th century American and British portraiture, landscape paintings, prints, and decorative arts, pre-Civil War New Orleans silver, historical art from India, Japan and South America, and contemporary Inuit sculpture.

Dixie Landin'/Blue Bayou:On I-10, at Highland Road exit 166 Both are family entertainment parks. Blue Bayou specializes in water attractions and Dixie Landin' specializes in amusement rides.

We did have Six Flags. But for now:

Schlitterbahn

Kemah

Moody Gardens

Splashtown

Johnson Space Center

Uptown District

Downtown Aquarium

Musuems

Beaches

Horrible selection, I know. Hopefully someone fills the thrill seeker need in this 5.4 million people metro. It is just to large to not have a theme park.

Augusta has Six Flags, White Water, Georgia Aquarium---oh wait, those are all in Atlanta. We've got the Savannah River and the largest man-made lake east of the Mississippi and an old canal. That's where I'm at on the weekends. Riverwalk is pretty cool. Disc Golf is pretty big here as well I guess. A lot of people come here to break into the Augusta National---most do it unsuccesfully, but last week my brother did it succesfully (i'll just say it required some knowledge of the area).

We just went to Schlitterbahn 3 weeks ago, and OMG that place is incredible. I was down there on business, but that place is almost worth the drive from Alabama just to go there.
