Ranking natural assets and recreation among Metros

Recommended Posts

Which mid or major Midwest Metropolitan areas have the most recreational assets and natural beauty? I have not been to every city in the Midwest, but I think the Consolidated Grand Rapids-Muskegon-Holland metro has plenty of beach shoreline, lakes and parks. Duluth Minnesota, with its hills and location on Lake Superior is another. Minneapolis metro has many Lakes. The Midwest Behemoths have virtually over populated their natural amenities, hence degrading them.

Whats your opinion?

I'd say Marquette and Traverse City in Michigan are both top candidates for such a ranking. I think the smaller and more remote the metro, the higher it ranks.
