Thank you for the photos. Now that I'm living far from GR I've found a new appreciation for seemingly random photos of GR.

I noticed the other day how nice City Hall looks with its new windows and the removal of those gawd awful screens (as the architects intended it to look).

I find that hard to believe. Almost every department has had cuts or is going through cuts in staff.

Yep, in 2005 they could have consolidated entire floors and rented them out (which was one of my suggestions).

Great seeing City Hall in its original glory. I remember when those screens went up, totally destroying the skin of this Skidmore building. I know that the International Style is not popular with the younger crowed, but I for one have always thought that the City/County complex was an elegant addition to downtown.

I like City Hall too! It works for me especially because of the way the two buildings are paired with each other - kind of a "Fat Man & Little Boy" duality. Placed by themselves, they're not as unique.

But I'm not keen on most of the other buildings around them. And I do wish we still had the old City Hall to look at.

I dont like the caldar plaza. Totally kills that part of monroe. The buildings are set back and it makes it feel less dense.

Barry-Roubaix: The Killer Gravel Road Race, was yesterday at Yankee Springs State Park. In just it's 4th year, it quickly grown to one of the larger bicycle races in the Midwest. Around 1550 people were registered to race.

Here was the start line at 9:55am, just before the ~250 racers in the Pro/Elite categories took off to race 62 miles of hilly backcountry dirt roads with a couple sections of sandy two-track thrown in for fun. Other racers did either 36 or 24 mile routes.

I still remember my first business trip to downtown. I stayed at the Amway Grand Plaza. I had such a hard time finding a place to get lunch. Nothing was open. I'm now use to the place being silent on Sundays. Back on topic now, I like the pictures without the people. You can get a clearer picture of the details in the buildings. There is almost a calm to the pictures. Its nice being that all the pics I just took have thousands of people from art prize in them lol. Very nice pics and thank you

Here are a few of my fav photos from the 2013 "Hair of the Dog" New Year's day ride.  Between 150-200 people showed on a cold, slightly overcast day.  New Year's traffic is light, and you can see we also spent a lot of time off road.  Stops along the way included a couple of watering holes and people were encouraged to bring food and dry goods to drop off at the homeless encampment in Walker.
