Hey, I just got back from my construction materials class at GRCC and I've found out that later this year I have to do a report on a brick or concrete structure in this area. I don't have a clue what building I want to do this report on. If any of you guys have suggestions, I would love to hear them.

Here are some recent photos taken from near the top of River House by my friend Megan, who I'm trying to talk into jumping off the building in September!

How did you get access to the top of the Riverhouse building?

I didn't, my friend did. She works in the publicity dept. for Michigan Community Blood Centers and was getting some photos for their "Over The Edge" fundraiser which takes place this Saturday (6th September).

I believe she said she was going to be back up there either Thursday or Friday this week taking photos of someone dangling over the edge on a rope while dressed as a drop of blood :w00t:

That's where a Fifth Third exec landed after leaping from the roof when the bailout package failed in congress yesterday.

LOL, that was a good one. Unfortunately I took this photo last week and it's closer to the Federal Building. Maybe it was left over from McCain's visit? He wanted to show that's just because he's old doesn't mean he's not still strong and able to vandalize public property!

Here are a couple of my favorite photos from the KissCross ( http://www.kisscross.com ) cyclocross bicycle race on Saturday at Lakeside Park in Caledonia.

And finally, one of me, jumping for my life and just barely clearing the water. I finished 21st out of 35 in my class (we did 5 laps). Amy took this one.

Cyclocross is a great spectator sport. The courses are generally pretty accessible and all the participants bring their families and kids and a great time is had by all. The next race is Sunday, October 19th at Cannonsburg Ski Area. Races start at 11, noon, and 1pm. Cannonsburg Ski Area will also be having their annual Open House, so there will be plenty to see and do. More info at http://www.kisscross.com.

^ Over the top! We just need to in-fill the asphalt seas around GVSU and the YMCA with a mix of low and mid rises and then toss in a 500 footer near city hall and a 600' foot signature over on the Fulton and Market Ave. parking lot, and then extend Medical Mile further east and we'd be all set.
