Very lovely pictures! The "fuzzyness" of the photos (IMHO) lends an air of nostoligia, as though the photo is something seen through the lense of the mind's eye. Anyway, my favorite is the last photo of the three that you posted, looking down Monroe Center (at least I think that is where that is). The only thing that makes it not quite perfect is...nobody is there doing Christmas Shopping!

How true, how true. Lot's of nostalgia in those pictures for this expat, but they are lovely in any event.

I just went through our Christmas list for this year, and with a family of five, and two large extended families, I can think of only a few items that we could have picked up downtown. Toys, games, electronics you can't find anywhere downtown. We did do some shopping locally, but it was on Wealthy and a few stores in the Cascade area for "artsy" types of gifts.

It was a nice day so I went to see if I could get on the roof of the new parking ramp at Saint Mary's. After climbing up 7 flights of stairs as the elevator isn't in use yet I saw a helipad on the top. Did anybody know they were building a helipad on the parking ramp? Here is a pic of it and a few from the 5th floor. I started walking up from the GM level so it was 7 flights to get to the 6th floor.

Unbelievable. I didn't know that anyone had captured that on film. That was one scary and devastating tornado. Ironically, almost the same area was hit in 1965 by the Palm Sunday Tornado.

What a beautiful early Spring day! Went out and even got a bit of a sunburn getting just over 100 pictures in Grand Rapids. Great day for fishing with many out on the Grand River.
