Is Greensboro Ready for a Downtown Grocery?

Recommended Posts

What do you think? The closest (larger/chain) grocery stores are Harris Teeter at Friendly Center, Southern Family Markets on MLK and Lawndale, and various Food Lion stores around the south and east sides of town.

I think downtown is ready for a grocery store. It would be nice to see the Greensboro based chain "The Fresh Market" open a location downtown.

Aren't they planning to put a grocery in the new Bellemeade development by the ballpark? I thought that HT and maybe a few others were in consideration for the site...

I did hear that a store is suppose to be part of bellemeade Village. But it will likely be in the later stages once a number of residential units are up and it will be very similar to that Harris Teeter in uptown Charlotte. The grocery store will be on the first floor with 4 or 5 stories above it for apartments or condos.
