The building has been officially approved. It will be 100 feet tall (9 stories) and the design will use feng shui concepts.

Nice link G! I missed that . . . feng shui is good but is it going to be LEED certified (I am really hoping all new development in the city and metro will be)? No mention at all about wether the are going LEED.

The sidewalk would remain the same width. The green strip will be gone. It will be much needed street parking and be more fitting to the South Side. I doubt that outdoor seating will be altered.

The Trib has an article today about 1IC being stalled out. The URA (who owns the land) is opening it back up to other developers to submit proposals. This doesn't mean the asian buisness center plan is dead, but it is looking like a long shot at this point.

I saw that. It's disappointing. I think that project would not only be good, but a good catalyst. I hope it comes to fruition.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the Surety Center as it was originally proposed appears to be 100% dead. However, a new project (no connection to the Asian biz center plan) for that site is under development. It will be of similar height, but a slightly more conservative appearance. I'll pass along more details if I can.

That's unfortunate. Even though it wasn't a "big" development, it was... and seemed to be great idea.
