Yet another hotel for the Liberty Ave. corridor!

Some more good news and also the growth and spread of downtown Pittsburgh up into the "Strip District". This makes more then a half dozen new hotels in the downtown area in the last 5 years by my count!

The article mentions this does not replace the need for a 'headquarters' hotel that would attach to the convention center. With all of the smaller hotels recently added to downtown, and potentially another with a casino hotel, I don't know that it will ever get built.

That worries me too. I wish Buncher would offer to build the headquarters hotel instead of this project, maybe with some help from the gov't. Sigh.

That's a good point. I wonder what is scarring developers off the HQ hotel project. There are some points on how if it was a GOOD idea to have a HQ hotel private financial interests would have been rushing into it. It's on the "David Lawrence should be a Casino?" thread. An answer to the Pittsburgh Convention President calling for a renewed push for a HQ hotel.
