J. Henry’s barber shop, a cornerstone of Parramore for years, has been destroyed by fire.

Mr. Henry’s talking about relocating but no word whether he’ll be staying in the neighborhood.

Thankfully, no injuries as it happened overnight and was apparently accidental.

Hopefully, if he does decide to move it will be close by. This is an important part of the community.

Long cut off due to the FL 408 ramps, Hicks Ave. is being restored between Anderson St. and Gore. It will also reconnect the Parramore and Holden neighborhoods:

This is definitely one of the benefits from I-4 Ultimate.

I thought that was originally envisioned as the Terry Extension  I think the signs on the signals even already say Terry.

Yep, and the sign at the I4 entrance also says Terry and the Parramore PCNP refers to it as the "Terry Avenue Realignment"

Btw, this provides some added detail to the project- https://i4ultimate.com/hicks/

I'm sure everyone has heard Bulldozer Buddy and those no good, money hungry developers are looking to destroy more history in this fine community.

But wait...  it says here, the City and the developers of Creative Village are working (and putting up money) to renovate/ restore the Wells' Built Museum and the Maxey-Crooms house.

I may have missed this posted elsewhere, but the proposed apartments on the old Parliament House property has been approved. "The apartment complex will be four stories tall with 20,000 square feet of retail on the ground floor, 192 single bedroom units, 86 two bedroom units, 12 three bedroom units and 16 studio floorplans."

Before you know it, only Hank’s may endure!

Sad. I always thought the kids would be alright with all of the progress we've made, but after chatting with a youngster recently (mind you I'm still clinging to my 30's) it seems like they are losing their safe spaces. I thought the younger gen progressed to the point where everything is more LGBT friendly and not as segregated because why else are we losing so many gay establishments??

Sometimes you just need a place to let loose, especially when you are coming into your own. P-House was that place for me in my 20s. It's one thing to go with friends to straight bar/club, but a totally different animal when you go to a gay establishment where you are on the menu lol.

I hope this gets built...

I was in a club in Hotlanta back when Clinton was president that was in a former old church.  it was really gothic cool.

as for the remainder of the project, seems nice but right in the middle of a sketch part of town (for hotel patrons).  I mean if the Soccer people built on the church land it would be better, but, the hotel is a block off of Church, not on it.

Aren't projects like this going to improve that?

Not that this project is actually going to happen, but in theory...

yeah, you know, I checked Google street view and it looks like there are two churches at two of the corners.  so...it may work.  it would be the third corner developed at that intersection.  the 4th corner has a two story small apartment building.
